Housekeeper/Cook Description

A Domestic Housekeeper/Cook is generally responsible for full-charge housekeeping at a private residence, as well as cooking breakfast, lunch, and dinner for the household.  Core housekeeping responsibilities include cleaning, vacuuming, dusting, laundering, ironing, silver polishing, caring for pets, and running errands. In larger residences that have other Housekeepers on staff, the Housekeeper/Cook’s duties may be more limited.

A Housekeeper/Cook’s cooking duties usually involve making three meals per day for an employer. Housekeeper/Cooks are also required to meet the specific cuisine/dietary preferences of the employer family. For example, Housekeeper/Cooks may prepare Kosher, vegetarian, gluten-free, dairy-free, and other types of food. They must also prepare food in accordance with any food allergies that employer family members may have.

The annual salary for a Housekeeper/Cook depends on your location, your unique needs and preferences, and the level of experience of the domestic professional. The salary is also affected by benefits, perks, and other forms of compensation that you may provide.
